The St. Peter’s Basilica in Renaissance style is one of the largest churches in the world. During the 120 years it was built, many famous architects (including Michelangelo and Raphael) added their personal touch. Michelangelo, for example, added the dome, which is still the largest in the world today!

The Experience

Eden Walks offers its customers a guided tour of St. Peter’s Basilica with the climb (without queuing) to the Dome. The tour is available every day except Wednesday, Sunday and religious holidays, at 8.30 AM guided by English-Speaking guide.

The guided tour has a total duration of 2 hours and a half and by booking it you will have the opportunity to visit the Basilica of San Pietro and the Dome with a privileged access and with an authorized guide.

The first part of the guided tour begins with the climb to the Dome which will be the first part in an elevator and then continue for about 300 steps on foot. At the top you can admire the breathtaking view of the Vatican City.

During the walks there will be a brief stop at the base of the Dome where it is possible to admire the interior of the Basilica from above.

The last part of the guided tour concerns the interior of the Basilica.

How to get there?

First, you should take the Metro Line A. Then, get off at the ‘Ottaviano’ station. The other way is by using the bus N. 64 from Roma Termini and get off at the ‘Cavalleggeri-San Pietro’ stop.

Items NOT allowed and Restrictions:

  • ·       Umbrellas, canes, tripods and video cameras: You should deposit in the wardrobe the umbrellas of medium and large dimensions, canes (except those needed for people with difficulty), photographic tripods, video cameras, posters and badges of any kind. The flags that allow to recognize the authorized tour guides are admitted.
  • ·       In order to guarantee the safety of the visitors and the protection of the artistic heritage, the Museums require that knives, scissors and / or metal utensils of all types be left in the wardrobe.
  • ·       It is forbidden to introduce any type of firearm and / or dangerous material into museums. Likewise, the armed visitor is prohibited from entering (even if he has a valid weapons license).
  • ·       It is not allowed to introduce alcoholic beverages in the Museums (their delivery in the wardrobe is obligatory). It is prohibited to consume food and drinks inside the exhibition rooms.
  • ·       Access to animals, even small animals, is not allowed in the Museums, with the exception of guide dogs for blind people and the domestic animals whose support for therapeutic care.
  • ·       The Vatican Museums are a non-smoking area and it rules the total prohibition of smoking (including electronic cigarettes) along the entire route.
  • ·       The use of any type of laser pointer within the environment is prohibited.
  • ·       For security reasons, none of the museum areas is covered by the Wi-Fi service Meeting Point: Via Germanico 5/7 in the front of the Restaurant Vinsanto  08:30 . Your guide will be holding an ‘Eden Walks’ sign.
